Karen White returns for another Book Your Lunch event with us, and joining her will be fellow Atlanta author Wendy Wax. Their newest books, The Beach Trees (White, NAL, paperback, $15.00) and Ten Beach Road (Wax, Berkley, paperback, $15.00), will release on May 3rd.

In The Beach Trees, Julie Holt knows what a random tragedy can do to a family. When she was 12, her little sister disappeared–never to be found. It was a loss that slowly eroded the family bonds she once relied on. As an adult with a prestigious job in the arts, Julie meets a struggling artist who reminds her so much of her sister, she can’t help feeling protective. It is a friendship that begins a long and painful process of healing for Julie, leading her to a house on the Gulf Coast, ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, and to stories of family that take her deep into the past.

In Ten Beach Road, Madeline, Avery, and Nikki are strangers to each other, but they have one thing in common. They each wake up one morning to discover their life savings have vanished, along with their trusted financial manager–leaving them with nothing but co-ownership of a ramshackle beachfront house.

Throwing their lots in together, they take on the challenge of restoring the historic property. But just as they begin to reinvent themselves and discover the power of friendship, secrets threaten to tear down their trust–and destroy their lives a second time.

About the authors:
Karen White first knew she wanted to be a writer in 7th grade. But it was not until after graduating cum laude with a BS in Management from Tulane University, getting married, and having children that she finally set down to write her first book. She has since published thirteen award-winning novels, including The Girl on Legare Street, which debuted at #31 on the New York Times bestseller list, and On Folly Beach, which spent five weeks on the same list. With the completion of The Beach Trees, she is now working on the next book in the Tradd Street series.

Wendy Wax was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, and grew up on St. Pete Beach, within spitting distance of the Gulf of Mexico. It’s hard to be a type-A personality when you grow up in such a laid-back environment, but she managed. Convinced that you were expected to know how to read before you showed up for school, she forced a neighbor friend to teach her to read at the age of five. She’s been reading ever since. After graduating from the University of South Florida, Wendy worked in radio, television, and film. She is the author of seven books, including The Accidental Bestseller, which is a RITA ® Award Finalist in the mainstream category.

Critique partners, Karen and Wendy both live in the Atlanta area with their husbands and children and cite Gone with the Wind as a major influence.
