London literary celeb Nick Hornby reads from his most recent work Polysyllabic Spree (Believer Books, November 2004) which features selections from his celebrated "Stuff I've Been Reading" column. This event marks the only US tour appearance for the author of High Fidelity, Fever Pitch and About a Boy. Joining Hornby in conversation after the reading will be Sarah Vowell, best known for her monologues and documentaries for public radio's This American Life. Vowell is also the author of The Partly Cloudy Patriot, and Take the Cannoli: Stories from the New World.
Both authors will be available to answer questions and sign books after the reading.
All proceeds support the programs of Housing Works Used Book Cafe, 826 NYC (a writing center serving students ages 8-18) and Treehouse (a London-based charity serving kids with autism).
