Book and a Movie Club at the McFaddin-Ward House June 10, 2010

Mister Roberts, a 1946 novel written by Thomas Heggen, a 1948 Broadway play adapted by Joshua Logan, a 1955 movie starring Henry Fonda & Jack Lemmon, and even a 1960s TV series.

The comedy is set during the waning years of World War II. The crew of the USS Reluctant AK-601 cargo ship has the low-status job of supplying the US fleet in the South Pacific. Sometimes the rules must be broken.

We will discuss the book first and then watch the movie.
