Program: Songs by Copland, Barber, & Strauss, as well as spirituals
Soprano Bonita Glenn and pianist David Lofton join PCMS at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Friday, December 19 at 8PM for a program including Copland, Barber, Strauss, and spirituals. Glenn made her debut at the Philadelphia Orchestra with Eugene Ormandy conducting and soon after she was a soloist with orchestras in New York, Oakland, Toronto, Buffalo, Washington, Ottawa, and Houston. In Europe, Ms. Glenn has often performed as a soloist with the Zurich Symphony Orchestra, Luzern Symphony Orchestra, Liverpool Royal Philharmonic, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Symphony, and Lisbon Philharmonic.
David Lofton, a native Philadelphian and a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music, has been a recital collaborator for many renowned singers, including Wilhelmenia Fernandez, Marietta Simpson, and Nancy Fabiola Herrera. Loften has also served as coach and accompanist for the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition and participated in the Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy where he was assistant conductor for televised productions of Carmen and Amahl and the Night Visitors.
