BOLD Atlanta 2009 Announces a benefit (for BOLD, Georgia Friends of Midwives and ICAN) weekend of events including:
Birth, a play by writer and childbirth advocate Karen Brody, captures the truth about our childbirth crises today: that is failing most low-risk pregnant women. The play, performed as part of a global activist theater movement known as BOLD, uncovers the secret lives of low-risk woman in labor as they confront coercion in hospitals and uncover "My body rocks" strategies for obtaining a powerful birth experience. Through the stories of 8 woman the audience begins to understand the truth behind how low-risk woman are giving birth today.
BOLD Red Tent, gathering women under a "red tent" to listen and record birth stories to be a part of our BOLD Library of Birth Truths. This is an excellent opportunity for communities throughout the world to BE BOLD!
High Tea with the Midwives High presented by Georgia Friends of Midwives is a means to help consumers get to know all types of midwives across Georgia- honoring these women who so strongly support Mother Friendly Childbirth.
Lunch and a Film, presented by ICAN of Atlanta. A Brand new film depicting Childbirth, options and awareness will be shown and lunch will be served.
Motherbaby/Family Fair: will host many local family friendly non profits working to promote healthy and safe Pregnancy, Birth, Breastfeeding and Parenting options. Family and earth friendly, local services and business's are show-cased.
Honoree Galleria, Susan Hodges and Henci Goer will be honored at special receptions on Friday and Saturday respectively. These amazing women have made such a difference both locally and nationally helping in the movement towards Mother-friendly childbirth practices.
Art show and silent auction, pregnancy and birth art from over 40 artists!
