~ FAQ’s:

1. What is Reiki?

Reiki is a holistic restorative method, developed by a Japanese physician, Dr. Mikao Usui, in the early 1900’s. He taught it to his disciple Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, who in turn taught it to Hawayo Takarta. Takarta brought the technique to the West, practicing from 1937 to 1980. Reiki is a non-invasive healing technique that employs pure energy. The word “Reiki” comes from two Japanese characters: “Rei,” meaning “universal soul,” and “Ki,” meaning “energy”—thus “universal life force energy.” The theory of Reiki is that health and well-being are our natural state, including the healthy flow of universal life force energy (Reiki) in us. But due to life’s unavoidable difficulties, challenges and traumas, blocks to that energy are created, resulting in various types of mental, emotional and physical symptoms. Reiki works to remove the underlying causes of such symptoms, restore free-flowing balance and harmony of body, mind and spirit—thereby eliminating dis-ease.

2. What happens in the Reiki Circle?

A Reiki circle is a gathering of people who are interested in Reiki. This can include anyone from complete beginners who have only heard the word “Reiki,” to advanced practitioners who have been practicing Reiki for decades. Reiki circles are used to explain, teach, and share about Reiki, including hands-on healing—giving and receiving Reiki. It is also a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and make Reiki friends.

3. What should I wear for Reiki?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing, to aid relaxation.

4. How can Reiki help me? Can Reiki relieve pain?

Reiki is both restorative and preventative. It gently encourages a person’s system towards its own unique balance. Because of these properties, Reiki can be of real benefit to almost anyone, whether healthy and wanting to stay that way, or in addressing a specific health concern or life issue/situation. Examples are artists who use Reiki to stimulate creativity, and athletes who use it to speed bodily recovery. Reiki can be utilized alongside both conventional and alternative medicine and therapies, to promote quicker and more effective calming of the nervous system, restoration of bodily balance, and reduction of pain.

5. Are there any possible side effects after a Reiki session?

When you receive a Reiki treatment, attend a Reiki circle, or participate in the Reiki training process, the emotions can be affected. Emotional blocks are often released, including feelings that may have been suppressed in the past. Allowing this process to occur is healing, and generates greater clarity and understanding.
