Bobby Sanabria's music, described as "red-hot, blistering, and brilliant" (All About Jazz), hits the stage of UARTS' Gershman Hall on Friday, November 7 at 8PM. Join PCMS as we welcome the critically acclaimed Bobby Sanabria Jazz Quartet, led by Sanabria who as a Grammy nominee, drummer, percussionist, composer, and educator, among other roles, "is not just a drummer but a historian, indeed one of the few authorities in the history of the crossover between jazz and latin forms" (New York Times).

Sanabria's latest recording project, "Big Band Urban Folktales" on the Jazzheads label, is currently generating widespread acclaim for its futuristic approach to the Latin jazz big band canon. In addition, the CD features no less than eight of his students performing as either instrumentalists or singers, while six former students appear in the orchestra. This level of dedication comes naturally to Sanabria, proclaimed to be on "a one-man mission to reach out to today's young people and ensure that they feel connected to the jazz music that he loves" (Jazz Review).
