Calling all music lovers: Get ready to rock in the next generation! You are invited to help Blue Star Music Camps continue to pass on the skills of playing, writing and performing American Contemporary Music to the youth of today. The evening is headlined by Tommy Castro with the Jimmy Dillon Band featuring Lorin Rowan, Ozzie Ahlers, Billy Lee Lewis, Keith Crossan, Eric McCann plus surprise guests. Tommy Castro, the Bay Area’s favorite Blues Man, is one of the most popular and creative roots artists to emerge in recent years. Castro was named B.B. King Blues Entertainer of the Year at the 2008 Blues Music Awards and his latest album Painkiller won Contemporary Blues Album of the Year! This Hot Blues event will take place at the beautiful 142 Throckmorton Theatre and will include a fantastic silent auction.
Voted Bay Area “Outstanding Youth Program” 2007 by Bread and Roses, the Blue Star Music Camps have been providing young musicians the opportunity to come together and hone their musical skills for almost 10 years. Unique to Blue Star Camps, all the teachers are seasoned professionals and the 1:3 teacher to student ratio allows for a high-level of excellence. As a non-profit organization, Blue Star gives away 50% in scholarships to their week long camps- no child is turned away. Coming February 2009, Blue Star will offer their first Mid- Winter Camp to be held at the MYC in San Rafael. Blue Star Music Camps for Youth – Where the stage is the Classroom!
