BlogTalk 2008, the 5th International Conference on Social Software, will be held in Cork, Ireland on 3rd/4th March 2008. The event is designed to allow dialogue between practitioners, developers and academics who are involved in the area of social software (blogs, wikis, forums, IM, social networks, etc.). A workshop on Social Network Portability will also be co-located with the event.
As well as a programme of 14 peer-reviewed presentations, BlogTalk 2008 will feature four prominent speakers from successful Web 2.0 companies (Rashmi Sinha of SlideShare, Nova Spivack of Radar Networks, Salim Ismail of Yahoo!, with one more to be confirmed). We will also have panels on mashups, mobile web and social design.
The event is being co-chaired by John Breslin - researcher at DERI, NUI Galway and co-founder of boards.ie - Thomas N. Burg - BlogTalk founder and social software expert with Playoo - Tom Raftery - social media consultant, blogger and podcaster - and Jan Schmidt - a senior researcher at the Hans Bredow Institute. The programme committee consists of 15 world-renowned experts in the areas of Web 2.0 and social media.
