Our society loves to define. This is erotic, that is pornographic. The playful images in this exhibition of plastic dolls having fun are what they are. It is our reactions that define them. Created by Seattle-based artists, Nicholas Taylor and Kelly Egan, superficially the images of plastic dolls in "traditional" explicit porn scenes seem to be derivative of "real" porn. But by using plastic dolls, with their a-sexualized portrayals of an idealized female and male, they pare down the ciphers of erotic imagery to it's bare essentials and ask whether their porn is any less artificial than the best, and most silicone enhanced, the San Fernando valley can offer.
