Blindspot
Tuesday, March 24, 6:30 pm at the New-York Historical Society
Jane Kamensky and Jill Lepore discuss their gripping book Blindspot, a 21st-century novel in 18th-century garb. A work of fiction that is full of rich, accurate history that only two such accomplished historians can provide, the book plays with the conventions of 18th-century novels, newspapers, portraits, and histories. Set in boisterous, rebellious Boston on the eve of the American Revolution, Blindspot is at once fiction and history, mystery and love story, tragedy and farce.
Jane Kamensky is Chair of the Department of History at Brandeis University, where she has taught since 1993. Jill Lepore is the David Woods Kemper '41 Professor of American History and chair of the History and Literature Program at Harvard University. She is also the author of New York Burning: Liberty, Slavery, and Conspiracy in Eighteenth-Century Manhattan and is a contributor to The New Yorker.
They are the co-authors of Blindspot: by a Gentleman in Exile and a Lady in Disguise.
