This exhibit chronicles the career of the USS Mason, the first U.S. Navy ship to employ black sailors in every enlisted rating including radiomen, quartermasters and signalmen. This exhibit features pages in history from 1944 written by Journal and Guide war correspondent Thomas W. Young chronicling the ship's maiden voyage.
