In 1959, Marcel Camus delighted the world with Black Orpheus, which set the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in the slums of Rio de Janeiro during the city’s annual Carnival. Winner of the top prize at that year’s Cannes Film Festival, this classic has stood the test of time and delighted viewers ever since. While gorgeous to look at, the film is also driven by its relentlessly pulsing soundtrack, which grabs you and holds you spellbound.
