The Black Choreographers Festival: Here and Now serves the community by providing a forum to increase the visibility of African American dance. BCF celebrates the ingenuity and uniqueness of African and African American choreographers by highlighting the importance of the African and African American experience in dance.
The San Francisco performances on February 10-12 will include the following choreographers: Joanna Haigood (Aerial Dance); Robert Moses (Modern); Chloe Arnold from Los Angeles (Rhythm Tap); Deborah Vaughan/Dimensions Dance Theater (Traditional/Modern); Kim Sims-Battiste/Culture Shock Oakland (Hip ?Hop); and emerging artists Paco Gomes (Modern) and Susan Voyticky w/mentor Joanna Haigood (Aerial Dance). There will be a post-performance curtain talk on Sunday, February 12.
