The Black Angels uphold the fine Texan tradition of rousing psychedelic hoodoo. Both more accessible and more original than fellow Los Angeles canyons-and-beaches celebrants Beachwood Sparks, with whom it shares members, The Tyde weave shimmering guitars and keyboards, moderate tempos and languid vocals into a sonic evocation of Southern California's disappearing open spaces and eternal gentle breezes.
