Tuesdays, 22 September-24 November
Digital Studio, Sackler Centre
18.30-21.00
Study original prints held in the V&A collections from some of the masters of black and white photography, including Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Bill Brandt, and learn how to create your own atmospheric black and white photographs. You will learn how to shoot in raw mode and how to look at essentials such as shape, form, light, texture and gradations in tone. Working with Photoshop, you will then learn the best ways to make the picture black and white, as well as methods of subtle tonal control; how to modify and tweak black and white images; and how to best highlight the subject's qualities.
This course is suitable for those who already have some experience of digital photography. Participants must bring their own digital SLR camera.
