Birth of the Bab October 19, 2009

The Báb (Whose name means "The Gate") was born in Shiraz in on October 20, 1819. He was the Herald or Forerunner, preparing the people for the coming of Bahá’u’lláh, the Founder of the Baha'i Faith.

Baha'is around the world gather for joyful celebrations to commemorate the Birth of the Bab. This year's activities include devotions and refreshments. The celebration at the Portland Baha'i Center will include a play entitled "The Telescope."
