Count Critters at KNC and help us kick-off a year full of fun events and programs for KNC’s 50th Anniversary
!

In 2007, scientists helped us document 459 species in one day. This year, we hope to do more!

• Meet hawks, songbirds, and hummingbirds up close.
• Search for aquatic insects and fish.
• Hunt for turtles, snakes, and frogs.
• Examine strange mushrooms and trees.
• Explore the world of insects with dragonflies, honey bees, and monarchs.

Discover the many plants and animals that call KNC “home”!

Scientist Lab: Meet scientists who specialize in all the creatures we’re exploring during the BioBlitz. Examine live and preserved specimens and ask questions – They will be sharing their expertise all day.

Hikes: Help a biologist track, trap, and release mice, voles, and more small secretive mammals. Other scientists will be tagging monarchs, catching dragonflies and fish, and identifying trees and mushrooms.

Programs: Live animals will be on hand throughout the day! Join us for hawks and owls, visit with migrating songbirds, and uncover the secrets of frogs, toads, and turtles.

Adult Adventures: New this year – In-depth programs for deeper learning! Hike the 140-acre tallgrass prairie and delve into the plant-insect interactions that form the foundation of the unique ecosystem. Identify ferns and lichens with a Great Lakes expert.

Evening Program: Cap off a day of excitement.
