Known in jazz circles as one of the strongest mainstream jazz pianists on the scene and one of the most gifted interpreters of standards, The New Yorker called Bill Charlap “. . . a lyrical repository who has already filled much of the sizable space once occupied by Bill Evans, and absorbed every pianist worth listening to in the past fifty years.” The Grammy nominee is still reminding us that there are still plenty of treasures buried within standards. He has performed and recorded with the likes of Phil Woods and Wynton Marsalis to singers Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand. The son of Broadway songwriter Moose Charlap and singer Sandy Stewart, he is married to jazz pianist Renee Rosnes and just released Double Portrait, a duo piano recording on Blue Note.
