Pianist, Bill Bell known as "The Jazz Professor" by his many former students and Bay Area Jazz Afficianatos will celebrate the release of his new CD "The Feeling of Jazz", featuring "Strollin in Golden Gate Park," at Yoshi's Oakland on Monday July 27th.
Bell, whose sterling musical career spans several decades as a teacher, composer and brilliant jazz pianist says the following about the new CD "...The Feeling of Jazz establishes the fact that BLUES lies at the foundation of JAZZ." He goes on to say, "There is something magical about jazz...in all its various forms and the attempt here is to celebrate the close relationship in contrasting styles."
The Jazz Connection accompanying Bell includes the highly acclaimed bassist, Jeff Chambers with Willard Dyson on drums, both expatriate Bay Area musicians who now make New York their base. Bay Area jazz favorites, Carl Lockett and Brad Beuthe on guitar and Charlie McCarthy, saxophone complete the ensemble.
