Big Mama Speaks June 19, 2009

Award-winning actor Vanessa Adams-Harris (Who Will Sing for Lena?) stars in Big Mama Speaks, a one-act vignette about the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921. Big Mama, a survivor of the riot, takes us back to what she witnessed and communicates, through memory and song, the redemptive value of remembering, understanding, forgiving and healing. Big Mama Speaks was written by well-known author, attorney and community leader Hannibal Johnson, whose books include Black Wall Street, Up From the Ashes, Acres of Aspiration and IncogNegro.
