Big Bottom Market and VingDirect Launch 'Women on Wine - Unfiltered' November 15, 2012

The "Women on Wine - Unfiltered" series is a new discussion, networking and food and wine pairing event created in conjunction Big Bottom Market and VingDirect.

"Women on Wine - Unfiltered" was created to bring the lives (and the wines!) of women in the winemaking industry to life in an intimate and personal setting. Hosted at the Big Bottom Market in Guerneville CA and moderated by Tammy Boatright, founder/owner of VingDirect, the first event will feature Marimar Torres, proprietor and winegrower of Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery (http://marimarestate.com/).

"I am delighted to have the chance to share what I have experienced as a woman striving to make top-quality chardonnays and pinot noirs in Western Sonoma County," said Marimar. "It is an honor to be the first to kick off this series and I hope that my experiences and story will inspire others."

Marimar Torres has been involved in the wine business all her life. Born in 1945 in Barcelona, Spain, she is fluent in six languages and holds a degree in Business & Economics from the University of Barcelona. She is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program, and studied Enology & Viticulture at the University of California at Davis. At Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery, she directs the activities at the winery and in both vineyards.

"From the moment I met Marimar I was intrigued and inspired by her energy, tenacity and amazing story. This forum will give Marimar and our local female wine industry experts the chance to share their stories and also encourage and motivate all attendees."

The Women on Wine series will take place every other month (January 2013, March 2013, May 2013, etc.) at Big Bottom Market and will feature prominent women in the wine industry.
