BETHUNE – THE MAKING OF A HERO
Phillip Borsos, Canada/China/France, 1990, 116 mins
Surgeon, pioneer and dedicated anti-fascist, Norman Bethune was the Canadian who first embraced the Republican cause in the Spanish Civil War and then accompanied Mao on the Long March. Donald Sutherland plays Bethune in a lively bio-pic, which takes the audience on an epic journey from the valleys of Spain to the Great Wall of China.
