"There's No Success Like Failure..."

"and failure is no success at all...." wrote Bob Dylan.

Join us at this Saturday at Bernal Bubbles as sculptor Bernie Lubell ponders Catastrophe Theory, Beethoven and how he poises his own work (and life) at the edge of failure.

Bernie Lubell's artwork has evolved from his studies in both psychology and engineering. His interactive installations focus on the intersection of science and the arts. They are decidedly lo-tech, being created from wood and other rough construction materials. They are also entirely powered by visitors who usually have to work together to animate the mechanisms. As participants play with the whimsical wood machines, they create a theatre for themselves and each other.

His installations have been shown locally, nationally and abroad and he lives and works in Bernal Heights.

After the talk, guests are invited to hang out at The Bubble for refreshments and a more extended conversation with our guest speaker.

About Bernal Bubbles:
