On February 9, Berklee alumni Ricardo Vogt '07 and Leala Cyr '07 - two musicians enjoying success on the New York jazz scene and performing with top artists like Esperanza Spalding - return to their Boston stomping grounds for a "homecoming" show at The Red Room at Cafe 939 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 with a Berklee ID.
Vogt, a Brazilian-born bossa nova wunderkind who was internationally acclaimed before age 10, and Cyr, a classical-turned-jazz vocalist from Wisconsin, blend picturesque vocals and sensual guitar to create a one-of-a-kind collaboration that seems to always find the two in harmony. Though Cyr hails from the Midwest, she'll pay homage to Vogt's roots by singing part of the program in Portuguese on 2/9.
This concert is part of a Berklee, NPR.org, and New York jazz station WBGO collaboration, The Checkout - Live at Berklee. The series brings critically acclaimed, New York-based, Berklee alumni back to Boston to showcase where they've gone since graduation. The concerts are broadcast live over NPR.org and over WBGO (in NYC) as a special edition of WBGO's renowned show featuring what's new in jazz, The Checkout.
