The Benton County Democratic Women’s Club is hosting the Benton County appearance of Dr. Robert McAfee and the Repower Arkansas Roadshow at the Bentonville Clarion Hotel & Convention Center on Monday, March 23.

Repower Arkansas, also known as the Alliance for Economy & Climate Solutions, is a multi-organization coalition organized by Dr. McAfee to promote the policy recommendations of Governor Beebe’s Commission on Global Warming. Dr. McAfee was appointed by the Governor as Climatologist to the Commission, which released their Final Report in October 2008. A link to the report is available on the Repower Arkansas website, www.repowerarkansas.org.

Dr. McAfee is taking the Repower Arkansas Roadshow throughout the state to discuss the current climate crisis and how adoption of the Commission’s policy recommendations can produce green jobs as well as clean, renewable energy.

Repower Arkansas’ coalition partners include Al Gore’s The Climate Project, the OMNI Center for Peace, Justice and & Ecology, and the Peaceable Kingdom, Inc.

Dr. McAfee, an Arkansas Tech University graduate, earned his Ph.D. in climatology in 1982 at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Upon his return to Arkansas in 1991 he co-founded the Peaceable Kingdom, Inc., a nonprofit education and environmental service agency. Since then Dr. McAfee has gone on to found the Arkansas Environmental Education Association and serve as one of a 1,000 specially trained climate change messengers for Al Gore’s The Climate Project.
