Benita Bike’s DanceArt Company brings new, exciting dance work to the Assistance League Playhouse,1367 N. St. Andrews Place, Hollywood, 90028 on Saturday, April 13, 2013, 8pm. The five-member DanceArt Company has been presenting ageless modern dance for 32 seasons, and the company is a fixture on the contemporary dance scene in Los Angeles.
On this program Benita Bike’s DanceArt will premiere “Through the Lens,” a quirky and surprising dance to music made by fantastical instruments. This music inspires dance that is completely surprising! Other dances on the program will be “Currents and Eddies,” “Southern Memories,” “Entrelazadas,” and “Eternal Encounter.”
Like a string quintet, the dancers of Benita Bike’s DanceArt perform with uncommon sensitivity to one another, bringing intense beauty and vibrancy to each delicately-crafted, expressive movement. The company’s work is known for its elegant performance, musicality, dramatic use of space and gesture to make sensitive observations on life. Benita Bike’s choreography stands at the crossroads of past and present, blending the music and sensibilities of the past with evocative contemporary movement.
