CounterCorp, organizers of the annual Anti-Corporate Film Festival, co-present the San Francisco theatrical premiere of the new smash hit documentary, "The Yes Men Fix The World".
The Yes Men are anti-corporate activists who masquerade as spokespeople for corporations and international financial institutions.
Because their audiences think they speak for high-profile organizations, their bizarre presentations and occasional apologies on behalf of their supposed "employers" are received with unblinking credulity, with no pronouncement considered too far-fetched (or inhumane) to reject as simply going too far in the mindless pursuit of ever-higher profits ... !
The film has received rave reviews from a wide cross-section of media -- not just the liberal/progressive wing. Here are just a few quotes:
"Outrageously entertaining ....This movie is glorious testimony to the moral power of satire" -- New York Magazine
"Great fun! It takes some nerve, not to mention diabolical intelligence ... to pull off the elaborate pranks devised by the Yes Men" -- New York Times
"A hilarious movie .... Even if you don't agree with the Yes Men's political agenda, you'll get a big kick out of this movie" -- New York Post
"It shines with raw wit and originality" -- Newsweek
"Funnier and more useful than Sacha Baron Cohen's 'Brüno' " -- The Observer [UK]
"This is the year's top documentary film" -- New Scientist
"Comedic vigilante justice … [a] media-savvy pie-to-the-face" -- USA Today
"Exhilarating" -- Financial Times
And, as an added bonus, Yes Man Andy Bichlbaum will conduct a Q & A with the audience following both the 7:00pm and 9:00pm shows.
Partial proceeds benefit the 5th Annual Anti-Corporate Film Festival in May 2010. For more information about the film -- including a trailer -- visit www.theyesmenfixtheworld.com.
