Enjoy an intimate evening of inspirational chamber music offered by San Francisco's most exciting emerging ensemble, BELLA Piano Trio. The program will feature landmark works by three very different composers from very different eras: an ethereal work by a teenager named Claude Debussy (1881), Beethoven's landmark "Archduke" trio (1811), and Shostakovich's second piano trio, a powerful and haunting, historical musical documentary of the state of humanity during the second world war (1944).
BELLA's artists are alums of the San Francisco and New England Conservatories, Juilliard, Harvard, and Rice and was recently selected to participate in the acclaimed Chamber Music Residency at the Banff Arts Centre in Alberta, Canada where they worked extensively with world-renown artists, Joel Krosnick , Gilbert Kalish, Don and Vivian Weilerstein, Mark Steinberg and Barry Shiffman. Come help support BELLA as they prepare for the 2012 Semi-Final audition for the Concert Artist Guild Competition in New York City this October.
BELLA's MISSION is to engage and inspire diverse audiences with the transformational power of music as a language for bridging gaps and building relationships via guided performances of the highest standards. They strive towards this mission from multiple approaches: lectures and performances in traditional and nontraditional concert venues, chamber music salons, outreach community events and collaborations, and interactive learning through their website, links and social platforms.
All three artists share a deep sensibility to the value and potential beauty of living artfully and the power of bringing inspirational music to the lives of others. It is this thread that ties them to their music, their audiences, and each other.
BELLA is a proud Affiliate of the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music (SFFCM), a non-profit organization promoting chamber music of all genres in the Bay Area.
