Originally inspired by the bluegrass of Flatt & Scruggs, New York City native Béla Fleck has gone on to become the world’s premier banjo player. Since 1998, Fleck has been nominated for over 30 GRAMMYs – in more different categories than anyone in the award’s history – and has won a total of 14. He will be joined onstage by virtuosic classic jazz torchbearers Marcus Roberts Trio, led by Roberts on piano, Jason Marsalis on drums and Rodney Jordan on bass. The mix of these four – Roberts, Fleck, Jordan, Marsalis – promises a bold new jazz experience, pulling from the extensive and eclectic musical backgrounds and journeys of all its members.
