Proving that cheese not only goes well with wine, but also with beer,Cork Wine Bar is hosting a special class featuring a tasting of artisanal cheeses and specialty beers on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 1:30-3:30p.m. The exclusive tasting class will pair six different craft brews with six gourmet cheeses, with a special extra pour of an exclusive surprise beer, while beer experts Thor Cheston, previous beer director at Brasserie Beck, and Tim Nelson of local beer distributor Legend Limited will teach guests the basics of pairing cheese and beer.

Attendees will be able to taste several unique brews such as the Weyerbacher Old Heathen, a robust Imperial Stout, the hoppy Southern Tier 2XIPA from New York and the Tripel Karmeliet from Belgium. The tasting will also share some of Cork's unique, artisanal cheeses including a smooth, flavorful Blue Stilton from Colton Basset, Ossau-Iraty, a creamy, complex sheep's milk cheese from France, and the Sofia, a dense and supremely tangy chevre from Indiana that is beautifully marbled with ash. All of the cheeses tasted will be available for purchase at a special discount for all class attendees at the wine bar's nearby artisanal market, Cork Market & Tasting Room (1805 14th St. NW).

Guests may reserve a space at Cork's Beer and Cheese tasting class for $40 per person by emailing tastings@corkdc.com. For more information, please call 202.265.2675.
