Though they are rarely considered beyond their function as decorative and protective elements on a work of art, frames have a rich history of artful craftsmanship. This exhibition brings together fifteen frames by American makers from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries--a golden era for innovations in frame design in the United States.
