See lovely, original books, published between 1700 and 1850, with illustrations featuring hand-colored plates. This exhibit from the University of Michigan Library includes an assortment of beautiful books illustrating the changing taste in landscape gardening from geometric formality to sparse lawns, while also tracing a rising interest in the science of plant cultivation and the collecting of rare species.
Free and open to the public. The exhibit is on display in the Audubon Room of the U-M Hatcher Graduate Library (enter from the diag). Available during Audubon Room hours. Summer hours are Mon-Thurs 8:30am-7pm, Fri 8:30am-6pm, Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 2-7pm.
