The Venue
AVALON is one of Hollywood’s most historic landmarks. From the Beatles first west coast performance in 1964 to ABC’s hit ‘Hollywood Palace’ hosted by Jerry Lewis and SASHA’s first west coast DJ residency, the theater at Hollywood and Vine has been a show-business epicenter since opening in 1927. Beats for Boobs™ is proud to host our 2nd annual LA fundraising event in this historical setting.

The Beneficiaries
Beats for Boobs Los Angeles is proud to announce the local beneficiaries that will benefit from the profits raised at this year’s 2011 event. Beats for Boobs is a 100% volunteer organization. Proceeds from ticket entrance, merchandise sales, donations, raffle tickets and sponsorships will go towards supporting these Los Angeles-based organizations.

Busted Foundation aids women who are suffering financial hardships due to medical expenses from breast cancer treatment. Busted Foundation’s programs include an education website and financial grants to eligible women dealing with breast cancer. As part of our educational program Busted Foundation offers a free website that hosts information describing not only what sources of financial assistance are available to the general public, but also how to seek assistance.

BOARDING FOR BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) is a youth-focused non-profit foundation that advocates early detection + a healthy, active lifestyle as the best means of breast cancer prevention. Founded over 15 years ago, B4BC’s education, awareness and support programs seek to serve young people and the action sports community at large.

The LA Gay & Lesbian Center - Breast Cancer Support Group

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center now offers a support group specifically for lesbians, bisexual and transgender women who are facing issues related to breast cancer, whether they are newly diagnosed, longtime survivors or anywhere in-between. The free Living with Breast Cancergroup, which meets Wednesday evenings in Hollywood, is facilitated by two breast cancer survivors: Holly Hamlett, LCSW, and Bonnie Schut.
"Holly and Bonnie are incredibly compassionate people, and they are dedicated to making this group a safe space,” says Susan Cohen, Director of the Center’s Health Education & Prevention department. “I’ve heard from women who have gone to mainstream groups and they’ve felt the need to hide their identity, or they’ve encountered uncomfortable looks when they mention having a wife or girlfriend. In this group, women can talk openly with one another about their lives and concerns. At the Center, women know they are accepted and welcomed every time they walk through the doors.”
Support from Beats for Boobs will help establish this vital support group through effective targeted marketing.
