The buzz is growing!
Excitement is in the air as BC Healthy Communities invites community developers, health promotion practitioners, local government leaders, policy makers and engaged citizens to participate in our first provincial conference! We hope you'll join this unique gathering of capacity building innovators, sparks and champions as we convene for two dynamic days of:
o learning and engagement
o inquiry and reflection
o dialogue and deliberation
o networking and celebration

Communities are breaking new ground!
Community builders around the province are posing some important questions:
Community capacity building practitioners are curious: What can support us to stretch our thinking and our practice to new levels? How can the integral capacity building approach assist us in our ongoing work with individuals, groups and communities around the province? How do we continue to develop our own capacity as community change-makers, capacity builders, and leaders?

Grassroots community building 'sparks' and 'champions' are wondering: "What can enhance community capacity to use a comprehensive and inclusive "whole systems" lens when addressing our potentials and our problems? How can this support our efforts to make change become more collaborative, more cohesive, more successful and more sustainable?

Local government leaders are asking: "how can local government join more effectively with other community building leaders working toward the goal of healthy and sustainable community? What is our role? And what opportunities are emerging for local government to be a player in a cohesive and collaborative community endeavour?"

Make sure you've reserved your place at the table!
Join this growing collaboration of community leaders and capacity building practitioners at BC Healthy Communities' first conference, June 12 and 13, 2008. Throughout the conference you'll participate in leading-edge workshops, lively discussion, learning and reflection, thoughtful deliberation, interactive networking, practical asset-building, and collaborative future-shaping. You'll also enjoy a stimulating and engaging plenary session with Harvard professor Dr. Robert Kegan: "Understanding and Overcoming the Immunity to Change." With friends and colleagues from around the province, you'll explore some pioneering and practical ways that communities are engaging in capacity building approaches that make a difference. Then, in dialogue and deliberation you'll identify essential next steps along the path of health, well-being, and healthy development - in individuals, in organizations, and in communities.
