BBC Electric Proms - Kano presents London Town October 27, 2007

*** Kano ***

Kane Brett Robinson or 'Kano' put aside a promising football career to become one of London's foremost rappers, having cut his craft with East London's N.A.S.T.Y crew early on.

His first album of 2005 ‘Home Sweet Home’ earned him rave reviews and saw single ‘Typical Me’ climb to #22 on the UK charts.

Now back with his second album, ‘London Town’, Kano finds himself working with a range of vocalists including Craig David (who features on his current hit single ‘This Is The Girl’), as well as Damon Albarn, Kate Nash and Leo the Lion.

With another two MOBO nominations coming his way this year, Kano is well and truly hitting his stride. He’ll be joined onstage by Craig David to unleash tracks from ‘London Town’ for this year’s BBC Electric Proms as part of 1Xtra's night.

*** Ghetto ***

UK MC Ghetto is one of the most talented in the grime scene. His first release '2000 & Life' was one of the genre's best-selling and his second, 'Ghetto Gospel', followed suit, as one of the fastest selling mix tapes grime has seen.

Ghetto featured on Kano's 2005 debut album 'Home Sweet Home' and specifically the hit single 'Typical Me'. Ghetto has also toured and collaborated with fellow grime artists such as Mike Skinner from The Streets, Wiley, Lethal Bizzle and Klashnekoff.

Ghetto will perform at the BBC Electric Proms as part of 1Xtra's night.

This gig is part of the BBC's Electric Proms festival which takes place across Camden on 24-28 October. Over 80 artists are performing and they've all been encouraged to create something unique for their shows.
