Did you know there’s no better way to see the city of Houston than on a leisurely bike ride through town? Join BCO as we set out to visit a few of the over a hundred urban community gardens by bike.
What’s a Community Garden? They include not only gardens where people grow food together for their own consumption, but also donation gardens combating hunger, educational gardens teaching adults or school children, market gardens supplementing incomes, and gardens providing mental or physical therapy.
BCO will bike to three of these gardens – North Montrose Community Garden, Keyes Park, and St. Mark’s United Methodist Community Garden. We’ll go from one little oasis to the next in the middle of our urban city but we more than likely won’t be able to buy any produce.
Meet at 8:30; start time: 9:00AM – Noon. Catalina Coffee Shop, 2201 Washington Avenue Houston, TX 77007. Helmets are required and please dress for the weather. Parking is one of the lots and on the surrounding streets. Please be respectful of their regular customers and do not park in the lot directly behind the coffee shop.
