Sonicbids, the website that helps bands get gigs, has partnered with Berklee College of Music to give one band a spot at Berklee’s 5-Week Summer Program. The sponsorship includes $20K to cover a 4-piece band heading to Berklee and $3K support from Sonicbids to cover room and board.
The Five-Week Summer Performance Program, now in its 22nd year, is the largest, most comprehensive summer music program available. It attracts roughly 900 participants from across the U.S. and 50 different countries and focuses on all aspects of musical performance. Students play in ensembles, develop improvisational and reading skills, improve technique through weekly private lessons and enjoy lectures and demonstrations by well-known Berklee faculty and visiting artists.
The final four bands--Jaci and Those Guys, Ria, GJ, and Fellow Freak--will battle it out in a “Battle of the Bands” on Saturday, June 19 at 939 Café in front of an audience of Berklee faculty, students, Boston music industry experts, press and more. A panel of judges will determine the final scholarship winner. These four bands will travel to Berklee’s campus, creating “Road to Berklee” videos for Berklee staff, students, Sonicbids teammates, fans and family to enjoy at www.sonicbids.com/BerkleeScholarship. Doors open at 8PM and admission is free.
