Stromba were born in 1998 as a duo - Tom Tyler and James Dyer - who made sample-based tracks on an Akai S950 sampler, but have since expanded into a fully live outfit that?s releasing a full-length this month. With styles ranging from acoustic folk to dub and afro disco and influences ranging from Miles Davis to Tortoise, their DJ set tonight at Nublu should find its groove easily. Bato?s Balkan Boogie turns Nublu into an eastern European gypsy beer-hall dance weekly. Tonight should be no different than usual.
