Friday Night Waltz is a high energy dance that features mainly Waltzes in the dances and classes, along with other dances like Polka, One Step, Swing, Salsa, Cha Cha, Lindy, and Tango. People are friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Casual comfortable attire. Attendance is between 130 and 190. Average age is about 30 or so. People come from San Francisco, Berkeley, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, and Oakland.



Our 7th annual Bastille Day Waltz Ball with famed French Bistro band Baguette Quartette. French waltzes, java, valse musettes. A MUST GO! we have always had fun with these dances. We have a fun large crowd, usually over 200. Baguette Quatette music is uplifting, enthralling and take you away from your daily worries.. The style is sometimes called French Bistro band, much their music can be heard in French movies of the 30's, 40's and 50's.

It is a rare treat to hear their music, and even more special to dance waltzes and polkas.



Richard Powers assisted by Tracy Powers will be teaching Bal Musette dances including the easygoing French mazurka La Java, La Samba, Le Blues, Paso Doble and Le One-Step (yes, the French use the English term) from 7 pm to 9pm. These dances will be played by Baguette Quartette.



Richard Powers has been teaching contemporary and historic social dance for over thirty years. He leads workshops around the world and is currently a full-time instructor at Stanford University's Dance Division.


Richard has researched social dances from the past five centuries, with an emphasis on 19th and early 20th century social dance. Richard's emphasis is on flexible attentive partnering, creativity, developing one's personal style, and the ability to adapt to the dancing styles of various partners.



Tom Hill teaches an introductory waltz class from 7 to 9 pm . To get the most from this class, try to start at 7pm. Excellent first time class



Tickets available at the door: $20 for both the classes and the dance. $15 students with id. Sorry due to band tonight, no dance only price. No partner necessary. All Ages. Casual comfortable attire. Under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian or sign a waiver.



Our special event refreshment selection: Divine double chocolate creme pies, raspberry cheesecake, dutch apple pie, cherry pie, almond pecan ice cream, green tea ice cream, raspeberry swirl ice cream, rocky road ice cream and a few other spcialty ice cream, along with shrimp platter, veggie platter, cold cuts platter, grapes, mms, and crunchies.
