KING LHOTA

King Lhota`s positive Senegalese roots rhythms are stirring souls from Africa to Asia. Started in Dakar, Senegal, in the 1990`s - the capitol of African Rap, Lhota found his voice in the mix of Mbalax, French Rap and Jamaican Dancehall that filled the streets. A decade on, King Lhota is taking it global and collaborating with dynamic artists from as far away as Malaysia, Indonesia, France and the UK.

Nelson Mandela, Black Panthers, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and La Negritude all have influenced Lhota, as much as Bob Marley and Garnet Silk. The music - it's all about equal rights, justice and love to overcome any strategy posed by Babylon.

Layan Sound System is a collective of DJ's, musicians and MC's playing the finest roots, dancehall and dub music. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the grass is green and the trees are seen, the 'Layan' has been a platform for some of the regions finest reggae acts to perform and meet, with regular ROOTS NIGHT. Layan's looking forward to bringing the fire together with our very own MC King Lhota!

RUMSHOT

Music extraordinaire Rumshot, aka Firmann has always been passionately rooted in the music scene. Since his early years when he started out as a percussionist, and brass band player, he has always crossed many genres of music. Firmann continues to keep his roots firmly placed in the: Reggae and Ska (as founder of DSH soundsystem); Punk (drummer for The Maniacs); World Music (founder & drummer for Instigator Afrobeat Orchestra) and Brazilian / Latin ( founder and ex-member of Wicked Aura Batucada and member of Novo Bloco); scenes, as well as a professional music teacher, musician, and sound engineer.

Rumshot is sure to rock the dance floor with his all-time favourite selections and eclectic mix for you to skank your socks off to, heightening your rhythmical delight.

RAS IRIE

Wan is the founder of Straits Records - the sole record store in Singapore that offers a wide variety of alternative and hard-to-find collection of music and vinyl. He has been in the music scene for most of his life; an avid and recognized collector and distributor of music.

SHAM EM

Sham has been a music fanatic since his crazy, hazy teenagehood, with a no-holds barred attitude towards music, all in the name of (listening) pleasure. A percussionist, sound/music designer and ethnic music instrumentalist, Sham graces the decks with his borderless selections of Dub, Dubtronica, Dancehall and Reggae for our nights.
