Basic Rocks and Minerals of Michigan February 27, 2010

We usually ignore rocks unless they are in our garden or fly into our windshield. Yet they can provide both beauty and information about our area's past. This workshop with Senior Naturalist Phil Stephens will focus on how to identify some of the basic rocks and minerals in Michigan, discuss their possible origins, and show some of Michigan's scenic geology (especially in the Upper Peninsula and Isle Royale). This "hands-on" session will emphasize the rocks themselves, rather than lots of technical terminology.
