Philadelphia sculptor Barry Parker's work has been inspired by many sources, including folk tales, literature, and travel to such places as Japan and Hungary. In addition to these references to mythology, poetry and culture, the physical process of making his work is central to its meaning. Parker's sculptures are constructed of hammered and formed bronze sheets that are then welded together.
