The newly opened Fairhope Brewing Company, located at 914 Nichols Ave. in Fairhope, is the first craft brewery to open in Baldwin County and the only one located in Lower Alabama. Although they have only been open three months, they have made quite an impact in Baldwin and Mobile Counties as many local restaurants are carrying their beers.
On April 18, FBC will launch their first Spring Seasonal beer, Rescue Dog Red, with a “Barks and Brews” dog adoption and beer release party. The Haven’s Mobile Adoption Rescue Unit (MARU) will be at the taproom from 5-7pm with – what else – “rescue” dogs that have been pulled from their partnering municipal shelters. Musician Jimmy Lumpkin, lead singer of Trigger Root and a local favorite, will be on hand playing live music to celebrate the party. In addition, for every Rescue Dog Red beer sold in the taproom over the coming weeks, The Haven will receive $1. As opposed to their Jubilee beers, which generate about 10 gallons, this beer will produce 300 gallons! That’s a lot of beer to sell and great potential for the Haven in generating money for their animals!
One of the company’s partners, Brian Kane, said that each of their management team has a rescue dog. “Based on our love for our dogs, we could not think of a better partner than The Haven for a portion of the proceeds of our Imperial Red Ale,” said Kane. “We have a warm spot in our hearts for rescue dogs and for the folks who are kind enough to take them in.”
