Barefoot Chamber Concerts continues to offer a great way to start the weekend right, with great music in a relaxed setting. The series is committed to musical excellence without the formality of the conventional concert setting. Concerts start at 6 p.m. and last 60-75 minutes without intermission. Light refreshments are available, and there is plenty of time to move on to other evening entertainments after the concert. The setting, the parish hall of St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Bancroft, has a lovely rich acoustic, and a congenial atmosphere.
For the final concert in their inaugural season Barefoot presents Yuko Tanaka, harpsichord, in a program of music by Bach, Handel, Gaspard Le Roux, and Couperin.
Yuko Tanaka, a native of Tokyo, studied at Stanford and in the Netherlands and Sweden, and lives in the Bay Area. The San Francisco Chronicle has praised her "exquisitely rendered" solo performances, and even in an area rich in fabulous harpsichordists, she stands out as an unusually compelling performer.
