Loss is one of life’s profound experiences, inevitable and universal. We encounter it in many guises, from the very personal to the broader societal, and bear it in individual ways. In this exhibition, the artists, all members of the Bay Area Photographers Collective (BAPC), explore the nature of loss and our varied reactions to it. Each artist brings a different perspective and addresses a different aspect of loss. Yet each situation is familiar and poignant to each of us: the intense personal grief of degenerative disease, the enormous sorrow and destruction of war, the small overlooked losses of everyday, the places you can never again visit, the decline of a community through neglect, the emptiness when a loved one has gone.
