26/52/78/104 kms. 12 hours. 238 runners.
It’s Tough. Are you?
Runners for Life (RFL), a division of The Fuller Life announces India’s first ever Ultra marathon – the “Bangalore Ultra” on December 16th, 2007.
An Ultra Marathon is a run where the distances covered by the participants are greater than the standard marathon’s distance of 42.2km. Runners can pick any distance to run provided they manage it within 12 hours. The minimum distance that runners can register for is 26 kms. This race is for serious runners and will truly test their stamina and endurance on the field. The run will take place in Hessaraghatta, on the outskirts of the city (35 kms. from MG Road), with a very scenic view assisting the runners. The start and finish points for the Ultra will be at Our Native Village, a resort in Hessaraghatta.
Making life easier for the runner on this test of fortitude are aid-stations on the trail equipped with peanut butter jam sandwiches, bananas, oranges, biscuits, idlis and wafers apart from the fluid supplements like water and Gatorade.
Please note that there was a cap on maximum registrations for the run. The organisers have received an overwhelming response and the registrations for the run have closed early.
Runners for Life, the organisers behind this run, has over 850 runners on its mailing list and membership includes running enthusiasts of every shape and size including CEOs, techies, marketing folks and entrepreneurs. The club was formed almost 3 years ago to give runners in the city a platform to run and train together.
RFL is confident that their Bangalore Ultra – India’s first Ultra Marathon – will put Bangalore on the running map and will be the beginning of many similar Ultras across India – as interest catches on.
Partners for the Bangalore Ultra include GMR, Adidas, Gatorade, Times Now, Radio Indigo, GK Vale, Kingfisher, Fab India and Manipal Hospital.
