Letter to Sheryl Mandel of Integrity PR from Marc Shannon, the genuis conceptual coordinator behind the BANDS OF THE WORLDS TOUR 2007:

Mission statement

"A lot has gone through my mind lately excitement, worry and concerns. I wonder to myself if I can make this event happen. The idea came to me from all the new friends I have met on MYSPACE.COM and people who have become apart of my life for other reasons. The high price of gas has made the independent touring band almost non existent. I think this idea will help Independent bands. I have done many events successfully at a much smaller scale, but I am not afraid to try. So when you have an idea, push it on the internet highway of life. Life sometimes rewards those who persevere. Through all of this you find out who truly are your friends. Then there are the people who wish not to take a risk in helping, sharing or commenting on your ideas because life has taught them that people are cruel and not everyone can be trusted. Its best for them to see proof before they step outside of there comfort box. Me I have always been a risk taker. My new idea is far from without risk. But what I have found to be the most rewarding thing in creating new ideas are the risk takers you find along the way. People not gun shy from there past experiences. These people take your ideas and run with them. They are a unique breed. They dance to there own music and are not afraid of new things. I love when I meet these special people and I bring them close to me. I letthem in and I share with them. Because life is short. And people like that are few.T here has been a lot of activity lately about my idea. I will always accept those people who want to help and be a part of my plan at whatever level they choose. But don’t wait to long because this day will pass quickly. And you can never go back. Currently I have asked for help on the graphics end, and writing business proposals. Some help has come from a professional level, some help has come as close as my own daughter. Some has not come at all. If there are things you need from me to make what you want to contribute happen please feel free to ask or call me. My number is on the tour poster created by my daughter Cory. I have a lot going on but I will always try to respond to everyone’s question. Even though I am getting way more emails then I can handle, give me time I will get back to you.In closing let me reassure everyone who reads this. I will put this concert on, I will bring the best independent bands I can from all over the world right here to San Diego,CA. If this concert is a success I know it’s because of the people. People who want to help or want to listen to the bands. No matter what I do. It will be people who want this to happen that will make it a success. And to me right now, nothing else matters."

We will start in San Diego, rent a warehouse for 30 days then host live concerts every night. Bands from all over the world will be performing, as well as local acts. Accommodations and airfare will be provided by Avalon. After 30 days in one city its off to the next city and we do it all over again for another month.

“BANDS OF THE WORLD TOUR” January 1st 2007. Each act will be chosen from their MYSPACE profiles. Those chosen for final approval will be asked for a full set of music approximately 35 minutes. Bands must be able to duplicate what is sent in and devote at least 2 months to the tour. Avalon will then invite select bands to join the tour.

Once accepted by Avalon, you’re flown in. Expenses paid and began the tour with us. All bands from out of the US will live in the warehouse built with comfortable private accommodations during the day, and at night setup in a wonderfully graphic concert hall venue. The sound, lighting and stage crew will all be provided. Of course all personal instruments accepted. You will receive a share of the gate sales as well as promotional money. Also your able to have your own promotional items and music on sale at our booth with all proceeds after taxes of your bands items sold going directly to your band. Each month there will be a best band contest winner receives cash bonus, loser must leave the tour.

Avalon is going to bring bands to city's throughout the US, that can not normally tour here. Travel and accommodations expenses's paid! We at Avalon feel with the high price of gas the independent music industry is getting hit hard. We want to do what we can to give everyone a chance to either play or hear great live music.
