Professor Watanabe will demonstrate bamboo carving techniques and will give a lesson on carving CHASHAKU 'bamboo tea scoop', one of the utensils used to scoop tea in the Japanese tea ceremony. Participants who have signed up in advance will learn how to carve their own bamboo tea scoop. Unlimited observers are welcome to come and watch. If you would like to carve a bamboo tea scoop at the workshop, you must sign up in advance by sending Polly Szatrowski at szatr001@umn.edu your name and affiliation by Friday, February 10.
