For beginners, ballet classes are a way to improve fitness and coordination. For experienced dancers, ballet classes improve musicality, grace and balance -- attributes which are applicable to all dance styles.
We'll get you started quickly and easily, even if you've never tried ballet before.
What do we do in class?
Students learn the proper stance for alignment, positions of the arms and feet, and ballet vocabulary applicable in other forms of dance disciplines.
Through learning excersises and combinations, students learn ballet.
What will I gain by learning ballet?
Ballet offers benefits for both mind and body. It's a total body workout that requires discipline and focus. It's usually taught in a group setting which gives students the opportunity to interact with other dancers, without the added difficulty and intimacy of 'partner' dancing.
Ballet improves posture and balance. It also sculpts and tones your body.
How much does it cost?
Classes cost $50 per month or $15 to drop-in to a single day of class.
What should I wear?
If you feel uncomfortable wearing tights and a leotard, simply wear a T-shirt and sweatpants. Make sure to wear clothing that allows you to move freely. Before you buy ballet slippers, ask your teacher what she prefers. Ballet slippers are typically made of either canvas or leather. Ballroom dance shoes are also acceptable in our beginners classes.
